The Launiu: Arquitectonica’s Latest Ventures in Hawaii

“The stunning natural beauty of Oahu serves as the primary inspiration for our design of The Launiu. By using neutral tones for the facade and creating a gently undulating look with the balconies, we aim to pay homage to the surrounding environment. Our interpretive design elements convey a sense of motion, emulating the effects of water, wind, or marks on sand. This results in a concept that is both organic and contemporary.” – Bernardo Fort-Brescia, founder of Arquitectonica.

Howard Hughes is delighted to unveil Launiu Ward Village as the newest addition to Ward Village, a master-planned community situated in downtown Honolulu, merely a few blocks away from the Pacific Ocean.

Arquitectonica, in one of its first residential projects in Hawaii, has designed a fresh and modern building inspired by Oahu, an island renowned for its lush green landscapes, world-famous white beaches, and abundant blue ocean. Much like nature, which is always in a state of flux, the facade design of The Launiu allows for multiple interpretations and evokes the ever-changing natural states of Oahu and the Hawaiian Islands.

“We are thrilled to announce the official launch of The Launiu Ward Village, which brings a fresh and dynamic residential offering to Honolulu’s vibrant real estate scene. Our commitment remains in consistently delivering unique homes in Ward Village, an energetic urban island community on Honolulu’s South Shore and one of Hawaii’s most enchanting locations.” – Doug Johnstone, President of the Hawaii Region at Howard Hughes

Launiu, designed by the internationally acclaimed architectural firm Arquitectonica—famous for projects like the Miami-Dade Arena (formerly American Airlines Arena) for the Miami Heat and the Atlantis Condominium in Miami—will be a striking 40-story tower located at the intersection of Moana Boulevard and Ward Avenue in Alabama. This prime location will host 486 apartment residences along with more than 78,300 square feet of resort-style amenities. Drawing inspiration from South Beach’s elegant lifestyle, The Launiu will boast refined interiors crafted by ODADA and lush landscapes designed by VITA.
