Unveiling Tranquility: Exploring the Layers of “Egret Haven”
The Void: Seeking the Unknown, Immersed in Peaceful Freedom
As you slowly step into the heart of the City Living Room, an indescribable sense of awe washes over you. A breathtaking ten-meter-high void dominates the central space, with skylights above cleverly funneling natural sunlight inwards.

The architectural lines are remarkably clean and restrained, forming a silent harmony with the flowing light. The interior space, grounded in a serene gray palette, features an unadorned ceiling that beautifully echoes the same pine-wood concrete material used in the building’s exterior. This, combined with soft side lighting, creates an inviting, almost museum-like atmosphere, subtly highlighting the art and nature within.

A majestic staircase spirals upwards, gracefully unfolding the space layer by layer. Light filters through a perforated screen wall and slender columns, casting sacred, serene patterns that dance and flow freely, imbuing the space with a pure, almost spiritual quality. As the sunlight gently sweeps across each step, your gaze is naturally drawn upwards, as if exploring an unknown, unfolding world.

At the top of the staircase, glass curtain walls and solid structural elements elegantly support each other, defining the main body of the space with a sense of lightness and fluidity. In this moment, the entire area feels imbued with life, breathing and alive, compelling you to slow your pace and fully immerse yourself in its profound tranquility and freedom.
The View: Standing Apart, Peaceful and Profound
Ascending another level, you arrive at the second-floor “viewing frame.” Here, your entire field of vision is enveloped in green. The only object is a solitary brass art bench titled “Bridge,” standing quietly. It captures the reflection of the layered forest, and the interplay of light and shadow on its surface aims to establish a deeper connection between humans and nature.

As light and shadow shift with the passing of time, they dance and transform on the brass surface, intertwining and responding to both humanity and nature. Sitting here, your mind naturally calms, and the essence of nature blends seamlessly with the warmth of art, flowing gently through the air.

The third-floor observation deck, however, takes on a more functional role. It provides the perfect, elevated setting for the Shunde locals’ beloved tradition of tea appreciation – a truly poetic lifestyle choice. The tearoom at the far end of the space appears like a floating pavilion in the sky, subtly extending into the surrounding jungle, becoming one with nature.
The delicate fragrance of tea beautifully complements the swaying fronds of the Royal Palms outside the window. In this moment, it feels as if you are suspended outside the mundane world, with only the harmonious blend of tea and nature, creating a sense of profound stillness and timeless peace, an almost ethereal experience.

The Vision: Anticipating a City of Harmony and Coexistence
The building’s uppermost level is dedicated to the “Egret Gallery.” Here, the space quietly narrates stories of the birds and the secrets of nature. And as you stand by the window, your gaze sweeping over the forest, if you time it just right for sunset, thousands of white egrets will gracefully soar and sweep across the sky, a breathtaking spectacle that leaves you speechless. In that moment, nature’s profound beauty touches the soul, leaving behind only reverence and deep respect.

This entire project, “Egret Haven,” is a powerful testament to the vision of a city that prioritizes harmonious coexistence.
