Situated in Midtown Manhattan’s nature reserve, the hotel stands at the corner of 58th Street and Sixth Avenue, just one block south of Central Park. The hotel occupies a 19-story building with 234 rooms and suites. Its acclaimed restaurants and bars serve creatively crafted dishes. The building’s exterior predominantly features green and wooden tones, exuding a sense of unpretentious simplicity. The designer has artistically integrated 16,000 branches into two large iron gates, greeting guests with a touch of nature right from the entrance.

In line with this concept, 1 Hotel has brought together an impressive team of professionals. The renowned New York firm AvroKO designed the hotel’s interiors and restaurant, while Damian Harris from Harrison Green crafted the landscape. AgroSci created a stunning three-story green wall for the hotel, and Sprout Home handled all greenery placements throughout the property, including Brooklyn glassware in guest rooms.
Often, green design and luxury seem incompatible. However, 1 Hotel’s designers are challenging this notion by making natural and local materials central to their designs. They use warm tones and ambient lighting to highlight these elements’ inherent richness, maintaining a simplistic environmental feel that allows the space and materials to speak for themselves.
As you step out of the elevator, you’ll be greeted by an ambiance that combines sustainability with sophistication. The walls feature reclaimed boards from Coney Island’s boardwalk, glass windows from 1920s New York factories, and timber from historic commercial sites—perfectly aligning with 1 Hotel’s philosophy of reusing materials, embracing biophilic design, and integrating nature into interior spaces. The floor-to-ceiling windows and wrap-around terraces offer breathtaking views of Central Park, making it feel as though the park’s lush greenery flows right into your space.
The guest room furnishings showcase custom work by skilled local artisans, blending blue and cream accents with warm neutral tones. Some rooms also feature reclaimed wood window sills that extend to the building’s exterior walls, providing guests with stunning views of Manhattan while maintaining a serene and cozy atmosphere inside.
The newest 19-story suite apartment offers a unique, elevated, and immersive experience that blends luxury with environmental consciousness. The design underscores the hotel’s dedication to promoting sustainable craftsmanship and supporting local artisans. The handpicked furniture is crafted from organic materials and adorned with linens made from sustainably produced natural fibers. The walls feature a textured finish reminiscent of Roman clay, providing an earthy ambiance. Recycled wood and bespoke artwork foster a genuine sense of place, seamlessly integrating the essence of Central Park. The spacious showers come with a five-minute timer as a gentle reminder of the importance of mindful water usage, reflecting the property’s commitment to eco-friendly living.
